How to Fix Muscle Imbalances

Have you ever noticed one side is stronger than the other one while doing an exercise? Most people have a dominate side that is stronger and more coordinated. While it’s completely normal to have a weaker side, these programming tips can help improve the difference for more balance, range of motion, and aesthetic purposes.

Try these 4 tips to reduce muscle/strength imbalances:

1. Start with the weaker side
2. Rest in between sets and match load/reps on the stronger side
3. Implement unilateral work with cables or dumbbells to force each side to work independently rather than a barbell
4. Add more volume, like an extra set, to the weaker side (For example: do 3 sets instead of 2)
