We’ve all been there- you start a new fitness program feeling excited and pumped to get ready to start finally seeing the results you want! After a few weeks, your schedule gets busy and the daily grind starts to feel like a lot to handle then motivation starts to decline. It happens to the best of us! However, understanding the root causes and implementing practical strategies can make all the difference in sustaining your fitness goals to make them a daily habit that you look forward to. In this blog, I’ll share insights and tips to help you stay motivated, so you can achieve lasting results.

Try these 5 things:
1. The 10 min rule
With many things in life, sometimes the hardest part is just starting! If your energy is low and you want to workout, but you don’t know if you have the energy to make it through- try this hack! Set a timer for 10 min and say you’ll stop after that if you really want to. 99% of the time you’ll keep going! Afterwards you’ll most likely have more energy too and be happy you got your workout in!
2. Remember why you started
The first step to overcoming a lack of motivation is understanding why you started your fitness journey in the first place. Are you looking to improve your health, increase energy levels, build confidence, or achieve a specific physical goal? Clearly identifying your “why” creates a solid foundation that will keep you anchored even when the initial excitement fades. Reflect on your personal reasons for wanting to get fit, and remind yourself of these reasons regularly. This internal motivation is more powerful than any external factor and will help you push through challenging times. Think back to what made you start your fitness or health journey and give yourself credit for how far you’ve come.
3. Schedule your workouts ahead of time and set an appointment with yourself
You wouldn’t ghost a meeting so don’t do the same to yourself! One of the primary benefits of scheduling your workouts is that it helps establish consistency and routine. When you set a specific time for exercise in your daily or weekly schedule, it becomes a non-negotiable part of your day, much like any other important appointment. This consistency is vital for long-term success in fitness, as it helps create a habit. Over time, working out becomes a natural part of your routine rather than something you have to force yourself to do. Consistency is key to seeing progress, whether your goal is weight loss, muscle gain, or simply improving your overall health.
Remember, exercise is not just another task on your to-do list- it’s an investment in your health and well-being. Make it a priority by scheduling your workouts and watch as it becomes an integral part of your daily routine, leading to lasting improvements in your physical and mental health.
4. Set a performance goal
Relying on the scale only for motivation can cause you to lose focus quickly because your weight will naturally fluctuate. Instead, try picking a performance goal you’d like to achieve like getting your first pullup, finishing a half marathon, or hitting your daily steps. Performance goals are By focusing on performance goals, aesthetic goals often follow!
5. Have someone to keep you accountable
Tell someone your goals and speak them into existence! Having an accountability partner can be a game-changer in your fitness journey. This mutual support can provide the extra motivation needed to stick with your routine, especially on days when your willpower is low. An accountability partner encourages consistency, making it less likely for you to skip workouts, and also adds a social element that can make exercise more enjoyable. Whether it’s a friend, family member, or a coach, having someone to share your progress with, celebrate milestones, and even face challenges together can make all the difference in achieving your fitness goals.
Keep pushing through, you got this!
By understanding your personal reasons for pursuing fitness, setting attainable milestones, scheduling your workouts, and having an accountability partner, you’ll be better equipped to maintain motivation and achieve your goals. Remember, consistency is key, and even on days when motivation is low, taking small steps forward will bring you closer to success. Keep pushing, stay focused, and trust the process— small efforts add up to big results!
